Nordeus boosts creative credentials with new Head of Art

Nordeus announces the appointment of Daryl Clewlow as Head of Art. Joining Nordeus from Natural Motion, Daryl will be focused on creative direction and growing Nordeus’ art department, supporting its ambition of developing AAA quality art on mobile.

Daryl  has spent 13 years developing console and mobile games for the likes of Free Radical Design, Core Design, Rebellion, Blitz Games and, most recently, NaturalMotion where he was Head of Art whilst Clumsy Ninja, CSR2 and Dawn of Titans were under development. As a trained fine artist from Chelsea School of Art in London, Mr Clewlow spent the first seven years of his career in film special effects, working on a number of Hollywood blockbusters such as Event Horizon and Star Wars Episode 1 before joining the game industry.

Daryl joins Nordeus as the studio launches the new 2016 version of Top Eleven, the world’s most popular online sports game which includes a new training feature designed with Jose Mourinho.

With a number of exciting new games in development across both the Belgrade and London studios Daryl will also be pushing a recruitment drive as the business looks to attract top talent across all art disciplines in both locations.

Discussing the role, new Head of Art, Daryl Clewlow said:

“I joined the company to help with the growth of the art department and to be able to deliver both my aspirational vision and quality bar for art alongside the number of new IP’s we are generating across the Nordeus studios, that is what drives and excites me the most, the challenge of achieving that. Quality of art and design is now of utmost importance within mobile as casual and hardcore gamers alike expect the same level of intricacy across platform and game types. It’s an extremely exciting time to be a creative in this industry as we see boundaries within mobile continually pushed and challenged – something our games will certainly be doing at Nordeus.

The business has had extraordinary success, and yet it’s also at the start of an amazing journey, so for me that’s a big differentiator that sets us apart. To be able to join an already successful company that is still moving onward and upward.”

Commenting on the hire, Branko Milutinovic, CEO, Nordeus said:

“Since Nordeus began almost six years ago we have sought to attract the best talent worldwide… Daryl is testament to this and he brings a wealth of talent from over 20 years in the entertainment industry that we’re excited to unlock. Spearheading our art discipline across markets, I am confident Daryl will be key in helping us to continue to expand upon Nordeus’ existing success as we explore new opportunities in 2016 and beyond.”
