This was my first Instagram Live experience, and I won’t lie, I liked it, even though I wasn’t sure what to expect beforehand.
I liked it simply because reactions from the audience were amazing and I could instantly feel that I was doing the right thing when I started seeing their comments while sharing my experience and thoughts about performance marketing. I’m also thankful to have amazing colleagues from Nordeus Comms and HR teams who had made sure that every step of the process, from planning to execution, went smoothly.
It’s a bit awkward in the first minute or two of a live session while you’re waiting for people to join, so you can’t actually start right away, but you also can’t just stay quiet and ignore the most engaged early followers. But right after I had “warmed up” and went into my comfort zone speaking about the topic I’m passionate about, everything became much easier and time flew by.
I was really curious to see how the audience would react, as I knew that we would have a mix of people who would like to hear more “nerdy” stuff about User Acquisition (UA), but at the same time, there would be a lot of people who are just uncovering the role of UA / Performance marketing. So it had to be a healthy mix for both groups. Based on the questions and engagement before and during the session, it seems like it served its purpose and we struck a balance.
An interesting outcome is that, since we currently have a few open positions in our User Acquisition team, many candidates referred to this session during their interviews, and mentioned how they had found it helpful in the preparation phase.
I believe it’s important to have more of these open knowledge sharing sessions across the industry. By doing so, we can more openly share our expertise and experiences, and show our colleagues who work in performance marketing, across the board, how amazing our industry and job actually is, so we can join forces and grow together.
